While it might be more convenient to push that button on your computer to take care of your DMV business or use the envelope provided, every time you do, Jefferson County, and you as tax payers, are losing money. A drivers license for $48.00 brings in a fee of $6.09 to support local services. While that may not sound like much, over the course of a year, the county DMV offices process approximately 16,000 licenses, some more expensive, but at the $6.09 retention fee the total over a year is $97,440 or three full time jobs kept in Jefferson County. The only thing you need to do, is put your paperwork in a new envelope addressed to:

and make sure you fill out your paperwork correctly. Your work should be back to you in 3 to 4 business days, not 3 to 4 weeks when mailed to the State. For drivers licenses you MUST have a vision test. You do NOT need to go to your doctor, it can be done at DMV at no cost to you. Your registration renewals can be processed the same way through the local office. We are here to serve you.
